Hello All
A while ago I published a post here which helped remove the issue with proxy prompting on the Lync 2013 client login.
Just to recap in Lync 2013 when you logged into the Lync client, it would try a number of ‘http/s’ commands before actually failing back to DNS entries for resolution/redirection. The problem with the Http lookup was it was dependent on your in-house limitations around web proxying and meant that the end user would be required to enter higher privileged username and password to bypass the proxy prompt. As not all users have these kind of creditionals they would continue to be plagued by this issue forever more.
Thankfully, in the latest September 2013 update patch <Which can be found here>, Microsoft have finally corrected this issue and no more would a user have this annoying prompting.
So how have Microsoft managed to do this?? Well simple.. they’ve removed the Http\s lookups from the startup of the lync client and therefore the client simply uses DNS discover and static DNS entries like it used to do in the good old days.
below are my logs PRE and POST upgrade.
